When Spartan Armies Attack

i think i recorded a drum track off a little cheap toy keyboard and sped it up in a sound editor, then played over it. i was watching a channel 9 public television program about the Spartans, and their armies... hence the title.

Only Love will survive

one of those songs that came from thinking about someone, while playing guitar, some chords emerge while the thinker is thinking, and then the creator molds it into something presentable.

I Can Barely See You

accidentally discovered bandamp tonight. my music is just sitting around on my hard drives... somebody might want to hear them besides me.

this is one of my guitar things. i always have a guitar within reach and i kind of randomly play chords and bits. sometimes something cohesive appears and i record it.

the full title would be (You are so far away) I Can Barely See You. thinking about my girlfriend in thailand, and about distance in relations - even when she's sitting across the room from me she's so far away (not my thai girl, previous situations)

Slowhands

Literally wrote this little ditty in five minutes and thought I'd record it and touch it up a little.

I'd been listening to The Bends on the way back from work, and for some reason really noticed the falsettos. Thought I'd try and combine the essence of that with a jazz-sounding piece. I may expand upon this at some later date but I just wanted to get something done in the meantime!

Instroduction

This was a quick instrumental piece I did with a few leftover bits of various songs. I'd been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd prior to this track and I think it shows. I'm really not sure how to expand upon this track so I reckon it would be a great intro song.

Really wanted to bring out the bass in the song but unfortunately it either distorted horribly or sounded crap. So turn that bass up!

Le Chanson

An instrumental song I wrote for a girlfriend of mine. Dug the MIDI file for this up the other day and ran it through Melody Assistant to see what it sounded like.

I'm still pretty proud of this, despite there only being a guitar and violin present. Still, I think it's a good instrumental track.

The White Room

I know this is probably not gonna fly good here, my String Concerto didn't attract much of the interest, but here we go anyway... 8-)

This is less than 2 minutes orchestral movie theme I did for a production company requesting something emotional using only piano and cello. It was a rush job so I came up with this in about 20 minutes and I didn't play much with the sample selection, so the cello sounds little bit more rich than just a cello, but it did the job... 8-)

Rickshaw!

He is thin, but not weak. His clothes are dirty and falling apart, but he doesn't mind. His goal is to get to the destination, by using every steel muscle in his body and he will not rest till he gets there. Nothing can get in his way, there are no obstacles he cannot overcome. There is no heat, cold, rain or a storm that will stop him. He will hit bumpy roads and steep hills, suffering great pain along the way. He will fly down the hills, overcome with joy, only to get ready for the next battle.

His endurance is endless. He is a man-machine. He is the Rickshaw!

Joyride

As always, everything was done in FL Studio, with guitar plugged into Digitech GeNetX 2 and from there going digital to SB Audigy ZS Platinum Pro, then mastered in SoundForge.

I had this idea for a couple of months, kind of classic riffs hard rock with not that many leads, only a couple of licks representing future vocal lines or something, I'm not sure yet... 8-). Somebody told me, when heard this in a rough form, that the crunchy riffs sound little bit like AC/DC, but you'll be the judge... 8-) Crank up the volume!!!

This song is now part of the soundtrack for independent USA movie "The Long Island Project".

Magnetic Storm

This is all synth, no guitars here. The idea for this song came to me long time ago, maybe like 7 or 8 years, but I never really went back to it until now. There are no drum loops or any other loops or arpeggiators in use here, everything was played manually and recorded into the sequencer. It could be called just the "Storm", but since one of the lead voices is called "Magnetic Fields", I named it this way... 8-).

If you're interested, here is the story that the song is supposed to tell:

You can feel the water in the air, tiny drops begin to fall and it feels almost like nothing will come out of it... sun is shining. Then, there is a brief breeze and the rain develops a little bit more. It keeps on getting stronger and you can hear the drops bouncing off the ground and windows... sun is still shining. Then, there is a thunder and the rain gets very heavy, but not in a mean way. The rainbow comes out, it's quite beautiful. There is another thunder, the rain almost stops, the wind picks up the speed and brings in clouds very fast, there is no more sun and the rain starts to develop again, but this time it's much faster. The heavy storm comes in quickly tearing down everything, the wind is very powerful... then everything stops and ends almost as quickly and peacefully as it began.

minatono yoko reply

this is a tribute to Downtown Boogie Woogie Band, the gods of 70's JAPAN rock scene:hundreds of hit singles.

The original song, Minatono Yoko yokohama yokosuka is one of their big hits. The song is a collection of stories about Yoko told by bar tenders, pimps, yakuzas and so on.

This song is a reply. Here is the lyrics traslation. Hope you enjoy!

Who is it? A guy asking around about me? I don't like it..
Ahh.. those days... things happend those days.. Mari's client was really persistent. So I just showed gentle side of my face, then he became impossible.. After that? I don't know what happened. I don't really care, you know.
It wasn't easy to do a business in Yokosuka. Johnny, Tommy, Mick, Rick, they all looked the same to me. They all had same kind of eyes.. Mayby I might have the same kind of eyes too.
A kitten was sobbing, drenched in a backstreet. I didn't think much and I just picked it up. That cat....was a strange cat. He talks. He told me about sutff. And I told him stuff too, like about the guys in the past.
By the way, I am not from minato area. I am actually from Kyoto. Will you tell the guy, yoko has returned to Kyoto where other Maiko girls and the mistress are. Well then, I'm off!
