Love Tragedy

I wrote this song a couple of years ago and the emotions behind the song are reflections of emotions that a real good friend of mine actually had the displeasure of going thru.

This song was inspired by me to break the sterotypical misconceptions of wiccan/witchcraft. But I will be the first to admit that it is a song that you either like it or you hate it and there is no gray area for it.

Will I Ever Get Out

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since my last upload but I'm hoping to add more soon.

For anyone that is interested, this song is a response to this news article -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7419969.stm

One of the most incredible blunders I have ever heard of. I added a bit of a fictional story element to it too.

Constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Summer Day

Hi there everyone.

This is my new song. The music, lyrics, performance and mixing are all my own (so that means I'm the only one to blame if it sounds bad...gulp!) All the sounds are VST instruments played in via keyboard except my singing and the flugel horn playing, which is me playing live into my mic at home.

I'm hoping that my cubase skills have improved since my last upload but I'd still appreciate any feedback.

I feel that it sounds a bit like the Lighthouse Family in places - Don't know if that pleases me or not!!!!

Lyrics (if anyone's interested)

In the summer, I go walking
And the breeze, it blows my mind
Past the trees and stream, such a lovely sky
I can leave my blues behind

In the village I see an angel
She smiles at me from her window
Such a shame, I may never see her again

I go strolling down to the river
Fish come up to speak to me
As I look down at my reflection
I see angel sitting with me.

Hope you like it.

Since

Hi all

Now that the summer hols are here I really wanted to get something uploaded on the site.

If you listened to Funkytown, which I did with Swordfish, you would have seen that I am fairly new to all things Cubase.

This is just a ditty that I did to try and learn some Cubase techniques. PLEASE DON'T VOTE!!!!

It took about an hour and a half and I know that the guitar is pretty ropey as is the singing (I did it after midnight so had to sing really quietly). I hate fade outs but again it was practice for using automation.

Comments very much appreciated, constructive criticism especially!

Cheers

Everybody is a Victim

Guitar works again.

Everybody is a victim
Everybody can complain
Everybody has welfare checks
Made out in their names
Everybody is a victim
Everbody can complain
Everybody's trying to find someone
On which to lay the blame

You're a victim of fashion.
You're a victim of gravity
You're a victim of passion
You're a victim of society
Everybody's trying to get you
Everybody's trying to find you
Everybody's got a hitlist
Made out in your name

You're a victim of the government
You're a victim of the mob
You're a victim of your family
You're a victim of your job
Everybody's trying to steal you
Everybody's trying to kill you
Everybody's got a hit list
Made out in your name

You're a victim of science
You're a victim of the FDA
You're a victim of wal-mart
You're a victim of every day
So call all your lawyers
Get your check books out
Its going to be a battle
That's what it's about

Call up the senate
Call up the House
Call up superheroes
To figure it out
They'll hand you some dollars
But never some sense
Everybody's got a pocket book
Written out in your name

Golden Age

I wrote this after we discussed Utopic and Dystopic novels in English today.

Lyrics:
You know that these days we're getting hollow
We take for granted all our lives
We drink what they make us swallow
We do what we can to survive

Golden age
Come again
Golden age
Of the past my friends
Golden age
Come again
Golden age
Of the future
The future

The skies are filled with black pollution
The water is turned all to grey
The forests are on fire
And man, like an ape, destroys the world

Back then people had solutions
They were sure of their false plans
Now we're filled with such confusion
People seem to have grown brains

Symphonic Waltz

A true break in style for me, this was my first peice in which I tried to write a classical symphony. I suppose this could be considered a demo for a full symphony, as it only lasts three minutes. Each movement is esentially a mini movement laying out the theme for various movements of a full length symphony that I may or may not write in the future.

The first movement is a little similar to Canon in D, using major melodic scales and smooth harmonies.

The second movment is a minor waltz which I sort of wanted to make sound itallian, but it got off somewhere.

The third section is a simple bridge in the style of some early austrian waltzes.

The fourth movment is highly influenced by baroque music, its a fast movment based mostly on the exchange of the high and low registers.

The fifth and movment is another waltz, this time in the romantic style.

Made entirely in FL studio using an orchestral plugin.

Outside

Inspired slightly by Dave Matthews Band. I apologize for the midi piano and singing. I was not happy with the mix.

Lyrics:
I am outside
Looking in, Looking in
At you
But you were never really there
I am inside
Looking out, looking out
At the world
But I can never seem to reach it yeah
Outside
Outside
Outside
Outside
Outisde
Outside
Outside
The trees speak so
Softly now
And I am amongst the leaves
But I can never hear them
Sun shines on the
Mountaintops and everything is great
But I can never really see
Outside
Outside

I am alone
Looking through looking through
The grass
But I can’t see you anymore
You are alone
Looking through looking through
The sky
But you never really see me anymore
Outside
Outside
Outside

Not my fault

How about some pseudo-latin rock?

I wrote this much faster than I would have expected.

Lyrics:
Standing outside alone in the rain
Hoping you’ll let me in to explain
Mistakes I made were not my fault
Don’t take what I say with a grain of salt
I’m wanting you to know
I’m waiting for you to show me
I have a reason for my mistakes
I’ll do whatever it takes

You’re such a part of me
So why can’t we agree?
You’re such a part of me
So why can’t you just see?

It’s not my fault that what I say
Can be misconstrued in every way
I’ve got reasons for all the things I do
But you always think of just you
I’m wanting you to know
I’m waiting for you to show me
I have a reason for my mistakes
I’ll do whatever it takes

You’re such a part of me
So why can’t we agree?
You’re such a part of me
So why can’t you just see?
You’re such a part of me
So why can’t we agree?
You’re such a part of me
So why can’t you just see?

She sticks to herself
I’m looking for somebody else
I feel so guilty I feel so bad
And I guess that makes her glad
She’s raking my brain
I’m going insane
She won’t forgive me
It’s not meant to be

You’re such a part of me
So why can’t we agree?
You’re such a part of me
So why can’t you just see?
You’re such a part of me
So why can’t we agree?
You’re such a part of me

Narrow House (Unfinished)

Well, just my luck that I got the flu and can't sing. I had the chorus of this song going through my head and I was forced to record it without lyrics and replace the singing with an annoying sine wave for now.

The song is mostly done for now, but the guitars are all slightly out of tune and the acoustic is out of time in some places. I will post the complete version once I get better and can sing.

Mud Waters

Testing out my mixer...

No the vocals are not supposed to make sense.

Lyrics:
think you’d tell me what is right
But you can’t stay in the fight
Because you don’t know
What is right for you
Baby its true

Mud waters
keep me here

Homeopathic psychopath
Can’t you pass that third grade math
wait a minute
What are we fighting for?
Who’s keeping score?

Mud waters
keep me here

When you gonna keep me here
Island in a sea of fear
And I am outside
Out here in the starlight

Mud waters
keep me here
Are you with the IRS?
You guys won’t just give me rest
Because you don’t know
Where you put the papers
No papers no

Mud waters
Keep me here

I believe in aliens
Indigenous Australians
Wait a minute
What were we talkin’ bout?
Nono I don’t know

Mud waters
Keep me here

Midnight

I like this one. It is a song about the fictitious suicide of my non-existant brother. Wrote it in about 3 hours today, and already I think its one of the best songs I have.

Lyrics:
I know soon that we’ll get started
I know its going to be a shame
I know that soon I’ll be forgotten
And others still will waste away
Pack your bags and move to the country
Hope you still got time to spare
Yet still the reaper tends his garden
He waits for no one to repent

The clock chimes midnight
We go to sleep
Deep still in slumber
The rats are crawling in the streets
The streets
We can never get it back again

Mom and dad go to the city
Brother stays at home with me
Can’t remember how it got started
I think it’ll never end
The clock chimes midnight
We go to sleep
Deep still in slumber
The rats are crawling in the streets
The streets
We can never get it back again

He was sitting all alone
I was playing in the street
Heard a shot ring out from his window
He was staring at his feet
I can’t remember
I can’t remember
I can’t remember

Lights (My Version)

Same as The Lights in the Sky, but I transposed it up a whole step and added a bunch of instruments. Cover of Lights in the Sky by Nine Inch Nails.

Lyrics:
She's mostly gone
Some other place
I'm getting by
In other ways
Everything they whispered in our ear
Is coming true
Try to justify the things
I used to do
Believe in you

Watching you drown
I'll follow you down
And I am here right beside you
The lights in the sky
Have finally arrived
I am staying right beside you

I tried to stay away
You know
Just in case
I've come to realize
We all have our place
Time has a way, you know
To make it clear
I have my role in this
I can't disappear
Or leave you here

Watching you drown
I'll follow you down
And I am here right beside you
The lights in the sky
Are waving goodbye
I am staying right beside you

I just dicovered drop D tuning! Everything is a bit out of tune though, its basically just a jam (because drop-D makes it so easy to jam)
Was going to post the lyrics, but lost them.

Its Alright now

Another one of my individual songs. Made in the same era as Dissapear, this song was made entirely in FL studio. I realize now that all of my songs are far out of balance and are really heavy in the treble registers.

This is due to my speakers having hardware EQ, and me having stupidly set them earlier to high bass and low treble, thus making all of my balancing extreme. This can make the guitar at the beginning pretty painful to listen to.

Lyrics:
I can’t believe its here again
My Self esteem is burning zen
What in my heart lets me decide
When I should leave and say goodbye
_
Run away from your dreams now
Take a bite of reality
Its alright now
It’s alright now
It’s alright
It’s alright
Its alright now
Its alright now
It’s all-right.

_
Where am I now right here, today?
I should’ve had more here to say
I should’ve been a millionare
Instead of nothing but thin air
_
Chorus
_
Take advice for what its worth
For what its worth
For what its worth

Should have more than what you left
For what you left
For what you left
Where did I go wrong?
I can’t wait this long.

Internet

This is my favorite song thus far. Sorry about the odd vocals, I was experimenting with autotune solutions.

Lyrics:
Another day melts away
Strapped to my chair
My body starts to decay
And I’m pulling out my hair

Haven’t left my little space
Yet I’ve been everywhere
You’d see me as a disgrace
If you entered my lair

I’m flying free
In my mind
I’m hanging with friends
And they’re blind
I’m racing around
All the Earth
And I observe
my rebirth
It’s easy to wander
When you’re in the sky
But it all depends on
what you imply
Because I know that here
I can be someone else
I can be someone else if I try

I’m back in the real world again
It’s getting really late
I look in the mirror, my friend
At something I hate
It all goes away in the end
Can’t you relate?
I sit back down for one last time
My brain is sedate
I plug in and I tune out
And I feel great
I feel like the world is gone
So a new one I create

CHORUS

It looks like its morning again
I got no sleep
I’m starting to see no end
No living for creeps
And my eyes are on fire
It’s making me weep
I’m feeling worthless again
Extremely cheap

Industry

My attempt at making some kind of House song a while ago.

It has a nice trancy lead somewhere, the bass is very loud and atrocious, and there is an ugly sounding guitar.

But that's not important, its all about the groove!

Phoenix

On Sunday morning, my hard-drive of five years died on me. I lost everything. Every bit of music I have ever written, every paper, every picture, every file I have ever made in the past five years is now gone. I backed up nothing. Included in this loss was a rough mix of this song.

After installing all of my software on my laptop, I recorded this song again. I didn't have any of my old samples, so I had to use a free drumkit I found on the internet. I'm not sure if it sounds better or worse than my old drum samples, but I do know that I spent more time and effort on this song than most others.

Lyrics:
A bird that I owned
Had beautiful feathers
It’s rarely sputtered tears
Could cure any ill
But then one day
I could easily remember
It lit aflame
And Fell to the ground
To the ground

Pile of ashes
Speaks of the past and
Fire is in the future
Winter is over
No longer colder
And summer is coming soon

Wonderful bird
Its brightly sharpened beak
Could kill any beast
That dared to breathe
But then one day
I can easily remember
Its feathers caught fire
And burned it all down
it all down
